複習時間到，上週片語【Knock over】就是意外撞倒東西人事物啦!!he knocked over my vase…

今天新片語為【stave off】to keep away or prevent (something unpleasant, etc.)

例如

1. 1.      I’m trying to stave this cold off.
2. 2.      A bank loan won’t stave off the collapse of the firm.
3. 3.      The enemy launched an attack and our army failed to stave it off.

做一些事情避免另外的事情發生，

像是我們去遊樂園玩，不想在園區花高額買食物，就會自己準備避免饑餓，

就可以說We will bring some fruit and bread on the journey to stave off hunger.
